Late Runs Down Pirates

(BLUFFTON) - The Pirate baseball team pushed league leading Delphos Jefferson to the limit Thursday evening. The game was tied in at 3-3 in the fifth before Jefferson pushed across three wins for the winning margin, 6-3. Delphos improved to 7-0 in league play, Bluffton fell to 1-7 on the year in Northwest Conference games and 3-14 overall.
Bluffton took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning before Jefferson pushed across two in the third to take a 3-2 lead. The Pirates tied it up in the bottom of the fourth. Brady Romick had two of Bluffton’s four hits on the night. Brice Rayle and Cayden Rayle each had a hit for BHS as well.
Dakota Bricker pitched six innings and allowed six runs, but only three of them were earned. The Pirates committed four errors on the night, as did Delphos. Aaron Belcher pitched the seventh for Bluffton.
