Boys Soccer Undefeated, Tournament Time

By

(KALIDA) - The boys soccer team finished the regular season 14-0-2 with a 4-1 win at Kalida tonight.  The boys are the top ranked team in Northwest Ohio and ranked second in the state behind Cincinnatie Mariemont.

Bluffton went ahead on a Jonathan Schriner goal after he beat the Kalida keeper 1v1.  Josh Mehaffie then added to the lead with a monstrous header off a corner kick which deflected off a Kalida player into the net.   Kalida added a nice set piece goal just before halftime to make it 2-1.

In the second half, Simon Derstine added a one time goal and Derstine later converted a penalty kick after Schriner was fouled in the box.  The Pirates controlled the ball througout the game and earned the road victory to finish undefeated.

No Pirate soccer team has ever finished the regular season undefeated.  The Pirates now get a few days off before hosing their opening OHSAA tournament game on Saturday October 24.
