(PAULDING) - The final trip to Paulding for a Northwest Conference football game ended up being a dandy. The host Panthers posted a lead but Pirate senior Tyson Shutler took an option pitch up the left sideline on a fourth down play and scored the game winning touchdown with just seconds remaining to push Bluffton to a 27-24 victory. Bluffton will now face Riverdale in the first round of the expanded OHSAA playoffs next Saturday.
Shutler had himself a night. 22 carries led to 241 yards and 4 touchdowns for the senior. The game winner was a 48 yard scamper. Shutler was also the team's leading receiver with 4 catches for 30 yards. Quarterback Nate Schaadt completed 7 of 12 passes for 48 yards on the night.
Kameron Coughlan led Bluffton defensively with 9 tackles including two for loss. Schaadt added 6 and Shuterl 5. Landyn Fleharty added an interception to his four tackles.
Bluffton is now 3-3 on the season including a forfeit loss.
