Pirates Win Another State Ranked Battle

By

(BLUFFTON) - For the second time in a week, the boys soccer team handled a larger state ranked squad to remain undefeated.  Kenton came into town without a loss on their record and the sixth slot in the most recent Division 2 state ranking but Bluffton (ranked #2 in Division 3) dispatched the Wildcats by a 2-0 score to improve to 6-0-1 on the 2020 campaign.

Juniors Kaden Basil and Jude Spallinger provided the goals for the Pirates with Jonathan Schriner getting an assist for Basil.  Basil put Bluffton up with just seconds left in the first half while Spallinger added an insurance strike at the 63' mark.

The Pirates outclassed the Wildcats from the onset, holding a 16-3 advantage in shots.  Nic Essinger made 2 saves as the Pirate defense turned in their second clean sheet of the season. The Pirates controlled the ball in the vast majority of the contest keeping Kenton chasing.
