(COLUMBUS) - The Bluffton boys soccer team embarked on a memorable season and tournament run, culminating in the OHSAA Division III State Final.  Columbus Wellington won the match 4-0 and Bluffton took home the State Runner Up trophy.  The final outcome did not damper a magical run through the postseason, one that Bluffton fans took in at a rabid pace.

Bluffton won four straight matches in overtime and/or shootout and downed some of the top teams in the state along the way.  Top ranked Ottawa Hills fell in a shootout to the Pirates in the Regional Final and third ranked Canfield South Range fell victim to the Pirates in double overtime on a game winning goal from Jonathan Schriner.  Jude Spallinger punched in goals in overtime to end both the District Final over Riverdale and the Regional Semifinal over Fairview Park.

The Pirates ended the season with a sterling mark of 18-3-2 and displayed the best season by a Bluffton soccer team in the school history.  More to come!
