Arlington Wins Dramatic Contest

(BLUFFTON) - Arlington prevailed 10-9 in a wild Saturday baseball game featuring 19 runs, 17 hits and 6 errors. The Red Devils did business in the third inning scoring five runs to take a commanding 6-2 lead they did not relinquish.  Arlington improved to 5-10 with the win, Bluffton fell to 3-10 and have dropped five consecutive games. 

Trailing 6-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Pirates went to work at the plate.  BHS scored once in the fourth and then tied the game at 7-7 with four more runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Arlington responded with three runs of their own in the top of the sixth to surge ahead once again. Still BHS battled, plating two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 10-9.  

Caden Rayle had a big day at the plate.  The sophmore catcher belted two doubles and drove in 3 runs.  Brady Romick, Brayton Businger and Evan Mayden each had two hits. Romick & Businger each doubled and drove in runs.  

Cole Fruchey started the game as pitcher and went two innings giving way to Evan Mayden for another two innings.  Aaron Belcher closed out the fifth and Dakota Bricker closed the final two frames for the Pirates.
