(LIMA) - Two goals were checked off the todo list Wednesday evening.  Bluffton enjoyed a 53-37 victory over Fort Jennings to advance to the OHSAA Sectional Finals against Columbus Grove, first and foremost.  The second task was junior Alivia Koenig crossing the 1,000 point barrier.  Koenig went coast to coast early in the third quarter and made a contested layup for her 1,000th point of her career.  The team thoroughly enjoyed both accomplishments.

The Pirates opened the game with a 12-0 lead after one quarter, paving the way for an advantage they never relinquished. The Pirates led 25-13 at halftime and 38-27 after three quarters.

The Pirates were able to capitalize on a 2-2-1 press to build their lead. Bluffton scored 12 of their second quarter points in the lane, many off layups from turnovers.

In the third quarter, Koenig snared a rebound and raced up the right side of the court.  She made her way to the rim and shot a contested shot that fell for her thousandth point.  Koenig becomes the fourth Lady Pirate with 1,000 career points joining Caity Matter, Julie Friesen and Abbie Parkins. She finished the game with a team high 14 points.

The Musketeers cut the lead to 35-28 late in the third quarter, but a Kayla White three pointer extended the Pirate advantage back out to double digits heading into the fourth quarter.  From there, the Pirates pushed out to a 51-32 lead.
