The Bluffton Lady Pirates embark on their postseason journey beginning Wednesday night when they take on Fort Jennings at Bath High School. The Pirates earned the 4 seed of their district, finishing the season at 16-6. The Pirates will be looking to advance out of the Sectional level of the OHSAA tournament for the first time since 2005. Bluffton will play in Division IV after competing in Division III for several years.
The Pirates will face Fort Jennings Wednesday night at 7:00 in Bath. BHS defeated Fort Jennings 55-33 earlier this season. The winner of Wednesday’s game will face Columbus Grove Saturday evening with a 6:00 tipoff. Bluffton and Columbus Grove fought through a double overtime battle in January with the Bulldogs pulling out a 57-52 win. If the Pirates can defeat Fort Jennings Wednesday, revenge will be on their minds.
Bluffton junior Alivia Koenig sits at 988 points and is looking to become the third Pirate in program history to hit 1,000 career points. Ironically, Abbie Parkins scored her 1,000th point in a tournament game last season. Koenig averages a team high 13.6 points per game through the regular season. The Pirates have great balance as Averey Rumer averages 11.0 and Libby Schaadt 9.5. The Pirates are averaging 53.2 points per game and giving up 42.6 through the regular season.
