Bluffton outscored Delphos early and was able to fend off the Wildcats in a 45-41 win.  Averey Rumer, pictured, poured in 18 points. Alivia Koenig scored 9 and Kayla White 8.

Bluffton closes the regular season at 16-6 and will face Fort Jennings next Thursday at Bath in the OHSAA Sectional Tournament.

An old fashioned shootout took place in the first quarter with each team scoring 15 points.  Both teams drained three 3 pointers as defenses were being shredded.  The Pirates attempted to press but the Wildcats were able to break the pressure for good looks.  Bluffton dropped back to a 2-3 zone in the second quarter with good results, limiting DJ to just six points.  Meanwhile, Bluffton closed the half on a 6-0 run getting buckets from Katie Prater, Rumer and two free throws from Kayla White to take a 27-21 lead.  Another 6-0 spurt with all buckets from Rumer opened the second half and Bluffton suddenly owned a 33-21 lead. The Pirates maintained their comfortable cushion until late in the game.

Delphos cut the advantage to 37-35 with 3:22 left but another 6-0 jaunt gave Bluffton the momentum.  Rumer scored in the lane yet again on an assist from Libby Schaadt and Koenig bombed a three pointer in the run.  The Pirates didn’t do themselves any favors late game as they connected on just 1/4 free throws, including missing the front end of three one and one opportunities.
