(BLUFFTON) - The Lady Pirate basketball squad came out firing Saturday afternoon and blew out Miller City 71-42. Four Pirates finished the game in double figures with Alivia Koenig (16), Averey Rumer (14), Katie Prater (13) and Libby Schaadt (10) providing offensive balance.

Katie Prater scored 8 first quarter points and Alivia Koenig 6 powering Bluffton out to a 15-2 first quarter advantage.  Miller City was stymied by Bluffton’s full court pressure and turned the ball over on their first five possessions.  Bluffton was white hot from outside the arc, hitting 4/5 three pointers in the first eight minutes.

Averey Rumer got rolling in the second quarter, pouring in ten points.  Bluffton continued the scalding shooting and ended up scoring 27 points in the quarter.  Five Pirates scored in a 10-0 run that pushed the lead out to 33-12 and Rumer and Prater combined to power a 7-0 spurt to end the half.  Rumer crossed the lane and tossed in a left handed shot from twelve feet out at the buzzer as Bluffton headed to the locker room leading 45-19.  Bluffton shot 9/10 from two point range in the second quarter and was 11/17 for the half on 2s and 6/13 on 3s.

Schaadt got rolling in the third quarter, scoring 8 of Bluffton’s 14 points.  The Pirates began to scale back their full court pressure but still maintained a 59-31 advantage heading into the final period.  With the game in hand, all Pirate players played meaningful minutes.  Eight of the ten players scored as well as Bluffton continued to be balanced.

Bluffton improved to 15-6 overall and will close the regular season Thursday with a home game against Delphos Jefferson.
