Lady Pirates Grind Out Win Over AE

HARROD) - Bluffton jumped out to a 16-4 lead after one quarter then fought off a physical Allen East squad to earn a 58-47 road conference win.  Three Pirates scored in double figures led by Alivia Koenig with 16.  Averey Rumer added 12 and Libby Schaadt 11.  Bluffton improved to 13-5 overall and 5-2 in league play. 

After building the large first quarter lead capped off by a Laykin Garmatter buzzer beater three pointer, the Mustangs charged back in the second quarter, outscoring the Pirates 14-6.  Bluffton led 22-18 at the break.  

A third quarter shootout saw both teams score 17 points with the Pirates doing everything in their power to stay in front.  Rumer did damage inside, scoring 6 points in the quarter.  Kayla White added 4 in the quarter and Schaadt 3.  As the Mustangs continued to body the Pirates for the full court, BHS continued to head to the free throw line.  The Pirates shot 14 free throws in the fourth quarter alone, connecting on 7 of them. White was 4/6 in the final stanza, Koenig 3/5 and Rumer 2/2.  Schaadt scored 8 of her 11 points in the final quarter, all from the field.
