Ladies Fall at Spencerville

(SPENCERVILLE) - Spencerville rolled out the red carpet for Bluffton’s girls basketball team in a Northwest Conference showdown.  The Bearcats brought the pep band, cheerleaders and large crowd as Bluffton entered the game undefeated in league play and Spencerville having just one conference loss.  Spencerville outlasted the Pirates 55-50 to give the Pirates their first league loss.  

Spencerville got off to a quick start and held a 13-3 lead late in the first quarter.  The Pirates roared back and cut the deficit to 26-22 at halftime.  Alivia Koenig scored 6 in the second quarter and Libby Schaadt added 5. 

In the third, Averey Rumer did damage in the third quarter scoring 8 of her team high 12 points.  The Pirates leveled the score at 36-36 heading into the fourth quarter.  

The two teams battled in the fourth and Bluffton held a 43-42 lead.  The Bearcats scored the next five points to take a 47-43 lead that they would not give up again.  SHS connected on 7/10 free throws in the fourth quarter to keep the lead.

Libby Schaadt - 10 points

Katie Prater - 6 points

Ashley Eachus - 2 points

 

The loss drops Bluffton into a first place tie in league play with Spencerville, Jefferson and Grove, each with 1 loss apiece.  BHS is now 10-4 overall.
