Wrestlers Look to Build on Experience

By

The Bluffton wrestling program will look to use experience gained last year to build more success in 2018.  Junior Deandre Nassar qualified for the State Meet last year and finished the year with a 40-8 record.  James Badial and Brady Romick return as the the senior team members after both qualifying for Districts last season.

11 players dot the roster.  Seniors Badial and Romick are joined by juniors Nassar, Andrew Burroughs and Jesse Montel.  Freshmen Elijah Conley, Wyatt Gossard, Tayton Kleman, Josh Mehaffie, Trent Pearson and Jeremy Sturgeon round out the roster.

The squad opens their season this weekend at the Findlay Trojan Duals.  Another challenging slate awaits the team as the Allen County Invite, Defiance Border Wars, Van Buren Invite and LCC Invite will provide a battle ground for the Pirates.  The team will look to peak at the Northwest Conference Meet and then onto the OHSAA Sectional, District and State Meets.

Jeff Kleman maintains his post as veteran head coach of the squad. He’s assisted by Mike Wilson, Mike Nuzum, Clint Strickland and Zach Wilson.  The latter Wilson was a three time State qualifier and finished his career with a career record of 173-20, the second most wins in Bluffton’s program.
