Girls Soccer Season Ends in Overtime

(BLUFFTON) - The first time Bluffton and Ottawa-Glandorf met this season, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.  The encore took place in the opening round of the OHSAA tournament and once again, regulation was not enough to separate the teams.  Ottawa-Glandorf scored on a penalty kick in sudden death overtime to advance in the tournament by a 3-2 victory.  The loss ends Bluffton’s season with a 8-5-4 record.  

Junion Averey Rumer staked Bluffton a 1-0 lead with a first half penalty kick and sophomore Kayla White added a second goal with 22’ remaining in the contest.  Leading 2-0 Bluffton defended to the max but OG found the net with 13 minutes remaining.  The equalizer came with 6’ left and sent the game into overtime.  

Bluffton was whistled for a handball in the penalty box and OG took advantage burying the penalty kick to end the match. 

It was the final match for Pirate seniors Abby Gambrell, Kayla Kindle, Leah Conley, Allison Wise, Katie Heinze, Kim Gordon, Kelli Leugers, Ashley Augsburger and Brianna Keeler.
