Boys Soccer Falls to Kalida

(BLUFFTON) - Two solid teams met at Steinmetz Field Tuesday evening.  And both teams had a handful of chances but it was Kalida that scored on a header in the 31’ of the first half and left town with a 1-0 victory.

Bluffton played their typical high intensity game and it paid off with a great chance in each half.  In the first half, Luke Young sped to baseline and crossed back to the middle where Jesse Montel was arriving.  Montel tapped towards the line but Kalida keeper Brayden Recker made a terrific save.  In the second half, Tayton Kleman crossed the ball which struck a Kalida defender’s outstretched arm resulting in a penalty kick.  Tristan Smucker drilled the PK low and to the left but again Recker came up with the stop to keep the Pirates off the board.

Kalida’s goal came off a right side build up.  A long, high cross was sent in and Kalida’s Grant Laudick completed a textbook header for the goal.

Pirate goalkeeeper Dakoda Clymer made 4 saves including an absolute point blank save from a shot just a few yards away late in the second half to keep the game at 1-0.

Both teams are now 8-5-2 on the season.
