PIrates Tie Titans

By

(BLUFFTON) - Bluffton and Ottawa-Glandorf entered tonight's boys soccer match with a combined three losses.  The teams drove away with no change as the two squads battled to a hotly contested, physical 1-1 tie at Steinmetz Field.  This game was originally scheduled for September 19 but OG's field was deemed unplayable and the game was moved to Bluffton.

Jesse Montel put Bluffton ahead midway through the first half on a corner kick.  The kick sailed in and was flicked on by Tristan Smucker.  Montel controlled the ball and fired a shot that found the net to put Bluffton up 1-0.

The Titans were awarded a penalty kick with two minutes to go in the first half but Pirate keeper Dakoda Clymer was able to stop the kick and the rebound shot to keep the Pirate advantage.  The second half found OG pressing BHS looking for an equalizer.  Each team received a yellow card in the half as play intensified.  With 13 minutes to go, Ottawa-Glandorf got another penalty kick and this time they cashed in on a hard shot that Clymer guessed correctly on but could not stop. A late run by Montel was called offisides with 90 seconds to go.

Bluffton is now 7-2-2 on the season while OG is now 10-1-2.
