Boys Look for Another Great Run


Bluffton's boys soccer team will look for another strong season.  The Pirates advanced to the OHSAA Regionals last season, just a year after bowing out in the District final.  Several seniors graduated from the 2016 squad however the team had a deep rotation with several players gaining valuable experience last season so the cupboard is hardly bare. 

Returning letter winners include seniors Tristan Smucker, Braden Conrad, Noah Fredritz, Zach Basinger, Minh Spallinger and Jordan Sieferd. Juniors Luke Young, Jackson Steinmetz and Jesse Mendel and sophomore Matt Daws add depth throughout the field.  Smucker was named First Team All Northwest Conference and First Team All District last season.  Young, Sieferd and Daws were all Honorable Mention All Conference. 

Coach Steve Smucker will hold the team's reigns for the fourth season.  Assistant coaches include Russell Bender, Mitch Kingsley and Dan Lee.
