Grove Gets Walkoff Win over Softballers

(COLUMBUS GROVE) - The Lady Pirates came up on the wrong end of a softball shootout, falling 10-9 at Columbus Grove.  

Grove pushed four runs across in the bottom of the fifth inning for a 5-3 lead.  The Pirates responded with two runs in the top of the sixth inning to the tie the score.  BHS then scored four in the top of the seventh to stake a 9-5 lead with just a half inning play.  The Bulldogs scored five runs in the bottom of the frame to win it.  The last of which came on a two out double by Mackenzie Wurth.  Grove outhit the Pirates 12-8 on the day but also committed six errors compared to Bluffton's three. 

Averey Rumer was 2-2 at the plate with three walks and three runs scored.  Taylor Monday belted a home run and drove in three runs.

Sami Fruchey suffered the loss on the mound giving up 12 hits and 10 runs in 6 2/3 innings.  The senior struck out five. 

Bluffton fell to 4-3 with the loss including an 0-2 mark in conference play.
