By

(BLUFFTON) - In the final Northwest Conference game of the season, Crestview was able to defeat Bluffton 47-45. Close losses have been a tough grind for the Pirates as the squad has seven losses by a combined 21 points.

This ball game was tight from the tipoff with neither team leading by more than five at any point. Bluffton led 35-34 going into the fourth quarter but NWC Player of the Year Connor Lautzeheiser scored 11 fourth quarter points, including the final two with five seconds remaining from the free throw line to win it.  The Pirates were unable to go the length of the floor and get a shot off to end the game.

Junior Gabe Denecker paced Bluffton with 14 points.  The big man was effective in the post and hit free throw line jumpers as well.  Nick Friesen added 12 and Joe Schriner 11 for BHS.
