Late Run Give Lady Pirates Win

By

(BLUFFTON) - A 19-1 run to end the game gave Bluffton a 62-48 victory over visiting Miller City Saturday afternoon.  After leading for the first half and most of the third quarter, Bluffton surrendered the edge on the last shot of the third quarter, a successful three point field goal by Carrie Niese.

Another Wildcat longball to start the fourth quarter pushed the Miller City lead to 47-43 but then the Pirates went to work.  After tying the game at 47-47, Andie Schmutz pushed the lead to 50-47.  Katie Prater scored her only points of the game on a three pointer at that point to make it 53-47 and give the Pirates some breathing room.  BHS drained 11 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter for the win.  Abbie Parkins was 7/8 in the stanza.

Andie Schmutz scored 17 points, leading four Pirates in double figures.  Parkins added 16, with an 11/12 effort from the line.  Alivia Koenig scored 14 including three from long range and Taylor Monday added 10.

Bluffton is now 15-5.
