Senior Ryan Johnston had the best finish for Bluffton as the Pirates finished 22nd in the LCC Invitational this weekend. Johnston finished the meet with a record of 6-2 record and a fourth place finish in the 103 class. Ryan fell 11-9 to Zach Smith (Cory-Rawson) and but after advancing through the consolation bracket, was able to exact revenge on his Hornet counterpart. Johnston defeated Smith 8-4 in the consolation quarterfinal match before falling 7-3 in the third place match to Alan Seagraves of Miami East.
Frosh Zach Wilson brought home a fifth place finish. Wilson won his first three matches before being pinned in the semifinal of the 135 class. After dropping the consolation semifinal, Zach rebound with a 6-3 win over Isaih Vega (Hicksville). Wilson had defeated Vega in the opening round of the meet by an 8-6 score in overtime.
Sophomore Kody Koronich went 4-2 with four pins in the 285 class. Ben Moser was 2-2 in the 215 class with one pin. Evan Huss and Sam Neff both went 1-2. Neff’s win came by pin. Other wrestlers competing for Bluffton were Jacob Garmatter and Chase Wilson. Tyler Rayl did not participate in the meet due to injuries sustained in an illegal takedown last week at the Van Buren invite.
